William Waldorf Astor and his wife Mary (Mamie) Dahlgren. William was the son of John Jacob Astor III and Charlotte Augusta Gibbs. In 1891 he moved to Great Britain in response to a family feud developed with his aunt Caroline Astor over matters of standing in high society. It seems Caroline Astor did not accept Mamie in her circle of society.
Alice Astor, Vincent's younger sister in the mid-1920s. Brother and sister often fought and when they did "people cleared the room." When advised that she should be more forgiving of her brother, that blood was thicker than water, Alice retorted, "Vincent has cut off my water."
