Quirky, bizarre, tragic, fiendishly funny, The Hotel New Hampshire is anything but a conventional family saga, though a family saga it certainly is. The Berry family are different. Love abounds - both healthy and incestuous. It is the overwhelming desire of the Berry father to run a hotel, which he does, with dubious success in both a former girls' school in New Hampshire, and in Vienna.

I love John Irving! I've read all of his books and liked every single one, but The Cider House Rules is my favourite. Beautiful characters.
"Cider House Rules" John Irving This was my first hard book purchased in college. I put myself through college. A major expnese was buying text books! I remember buying this book and the decision to do with out so I could “have my own copy”. It has been read many times over. The movie was OK but this book lives on through its written word and my experience with it. This is a book I will never part with “Cider House Rules”. It represents my love of reading and helps me remember the tenacity I have needed many times in my life.
The Cider House Rules, by John Irving. Potentially my favorite book ever.

The World According to Garp.Garp grows up, becoming interested in sex, wrestling, and writing fiction—three topics in which his mother has little interest. After his graduation in 1961, his mother takes him to Vienna where he writes his first novella. His mother, too, starts writing, - her autobiography. She becomes an iconic feminist; he struggles with marriage, family. Great read.

The Help By Kathryn Stockett. I know everyone's into this book right now, but that doesn't change the fact that it's worth reading.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett | Great book and movie.. Really makes you think about the prejudices in society nowadays
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Even if you've seen the movie... read the book. It is wonderful and more alive than watching real people play it out on the screen.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett This book is so powerful and I love it and the movie. I recommend it to *everyone* (+16)
The Help by Kathryn Stockett From page two, the voice in this book had me captivated. I couldn't put it down. The characters wrap themselves around your finger and won't let go. Transported to the 1950's South, you will cry, shout, be so angry you could spit, and laugh out loud as you are allowed to follow the lives of these unforgettable people. This is one of my all time favorite books. Love it, go get it, READ it!
The Help by Kathryn Stockett Skeeter returns home to Mississippi from college in 1962 and begins to write stories about the African-American women that are found working in white households, which includes Aibileen, who grieves for the loss of her son while caring for her seventeenth white child, and Minny, Aibileen's sassy friend, the hired cook for a secretive woman who is new to town... Saw the movie and it was awesome!

Worth Reading, Squire S Tales, Knights, Books Worth, King Arthur, Tales Series, Gerald Morris
There are 10 books in the series and I love each and every one of them. They are a clever re-telling of the stories of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. They will make you laugh and make you cry. -Jon Sears, Circulation Services Coordinator/Stacks Manager
The Squire's Tales Series by Gerald Morris—some of the best books I have ever read. Long live King Arthur!
Gerald Morris is amazing. This series is SO fun to read - so many laughs. And it has so many amazing messages about life.
The Squire's Tale, by Gerald Morris, is the beginning of a marvelous series of books, reimagining the tales of Camelot. They are witty, humorous, touching, surprising, and a bundle of fun. I love the characters, and the fact that they grow throughout the books. It doesn't matter if you are familiar with the stories of Camelot before you start, but it gave me a new love for Camelot and King Arthur.
The Squire's Tale (The Squire's Tales, #1) @Mayka Tustison, there are 10 books and they're all good. Basically appropriate for all ages. I think they would be enjoyable if read aloud too
A moving, relatable return to King Arthur's court from the perspective of a paige/squire. Read every one in the series. - young adult level
The first in Gerald Morris's "The Squire's Tales" series, humorous retellings of Arthurian legends. Suggested for ages 12 and up (Recommended by Christina.)

Prep: A Novel by Curtis Sittenfeld, http://www.amazon.com/dp/081297235X/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_RdP5rb1R6XRQP
Prep. By Curtis Sittenfeld. Story of Lee, a shy awkward teenager, who moves from Indiana to Ault, an elite East Coast boarding school. Reading in Aug 2012.
One of my all-time favorite novels. It was as if Curtis Sittenfeld shadowed me at boarding school.
Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld - current read, takes me back to high school and the insecurities
This novel is often mentioned on lists of adult books about teens, and for good reason. The novel is perfect for readers looking for an authentic teen voice. Though Lee — a Midwestern girl who is determined to go to an East Coast prep school — is not the most endearing narrator, she is certainly compelling. Frequently compared to Holden Caulfield, Lee’s awkward and self-consciousness narration brings the disaffected boarding school protagonist to a new generation and gender. www.yalsa.ala.org
Lee Fiora comes from an affectionate, solidly middle-class family in South Bend, Indiana, but she's willing to leave that all behind for the chance to enter a prestigious New England boarding school. The novel follows Lee through high school as she tries to fit in but never quite manages. By the time she's a senior, she will have to reckon with all the ways in which she was willing to betray herself, and even her own family, for the pleasure of acceptance. Witty, candid, and always compelling.

I so have to read this!!! Snobs by Julian Fellowes | Community Post: 14 Books To Read If You Love Downton Abbey #downtonabbey via @BuzzFeed
Snobs by Julian Fellowes When the gap between Downton Abbey episodes becomes too great, it's nice to know that Julian Fellowes also writes books. This is his first novel, and it's a captivating, and sometimes humorous, story about the lives of the British aristocracy, though he himself describes it more as a story about life choices. Either way, it's a terrific read.

Snobs: A Novel of Modern Manners from Downton Abbey author Julian Fellowes (who establishes himself here as an irresistible storyteller and a deliciously witty chronicler of modern manners).
Snobs by Julian Fellowes | The best comedies of manners are often deceptively simple, seamlessly blending social critique with character and story. In his superbly observed first novel, Julian Fellowes, creator of Downton Abbey and winner of an Academy Award for his original screenplay of Gosford Park, brings us an insider’s look at a contemporary England that is still not as classless as is popularly supposed.
