"If I'm such a legend, then why am I so lonely? In the stillness of the night dreaming of more gentle words of one man than the applause of thousands of people " . (Judy Garland)

Cinema Paradiso. Tornatore's masterpiece about a boy who loves the movies growing up in post war Sicily and the characters and town that shape him. Won the Oscar for best foreign film.
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (Cinema Paradiso) 1988. My favorite movie ever. It has a wonderful soundtrack too.
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (Cinema Paradiso) 1988, movie lovers rejoice, it's a film about a movie lover... four stars
Cinema Paradiso Giuseppe Tornatore 1988 famous Italian film director, returns home late one evening, where his girlfriend sleepily tells him that his mother called to say that someone named Alfredo has died. Salvatore obviously shies away from committed relationships, and he has not been back to his home village of Giancaldo, Sicily in 30 years. OSCAR (Best Foreign Film) Excellent
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (Cinema Paradiso) 1988. One of my favorite movies.

It Happened One Night, Frank Capra 1934. Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert, Walter Connolly. My virgin Screwball Comedy experience was glorious. Clark was sooo handsome, and that lifting the skirt business just seemed naughty, but it made me laugh and somehow my friend Kathy and I wanted more of whatever it was we had seen. It was only the beginning.

Persona opening scene' I reflected on what was important, and began with the projector and my desire to set it in motion. But when the projector was running, nothing came out of it but old ideas, the spider, God's lamb, all that dull stuff. In her day, Marilyn Monroe shook up the fashion world by oscillating between a girl-next-door, natural aesthetic and smoldering evening looks. Today, she remains a strong style icon. Be a taste-maker in your own right by donning an updated version of her cat eye frames with La Marquise. #BonLookBlog #LaMarquise #MarilynMonroe
Book Worm_A little known fact is that Marilyn wore glasses. However, at the time glasses were considered to be a negative feature as they were thick and ugly. Also, most people associated them with nerdiness and Marilyn thought that glasses would destroy her image of a sex-symbol. As a result, she rarely wore them in public.
Cat eye glasses and cat eye sunglasses is rooted firmly in the revival of ’50s and early ’60s fashion. Most memorably worn by deceased movie star Marilyn Monroe.

Norma Shearer~(Canadian born in Montreal) was dubbed the “First Lady of the Screen” by MGM because of her marriage to Hollywood producer Irving G. Thalberg. She was considered for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind" but turned it down believing the movie would not be a success!

ok, so I've never met him...but Rodney did! Rod was 21 at Icehouse in Mac and a group of people came in and an old man laid quarters on pool table. Rod beat him and shook his hand. Rod asked if he was from here and Mr. Cash replied, "Son, I'm Johnny Cash." Rod was floored. Drank beers with him, too.

I often write to the music of Johnny Cash. In All the Pretty Bodies, Sylvie James is the woman in black.
“I wore black because I liked it. I still do, and wearing it still means something to me. It's still my symbol of rebellion -- against a stagnant status quo, against our hypocritical houses of God, against people whose minds are closed to others' ideas.” ― Johnny Cash
The "Man in Black"! Johnny Cash was one "Bad Mother Fucker!" One of my Father's favorite Country Singers. I didn't "Understand" when listening to him as a youngster. Now as a Man, I finally got it., I "Understand"!

The Iconic Johnny Cash! The man in black.
<3 Well, you wonder why I always dress in black, Why you never see bright colors on my back, And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone. Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on. I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down, Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town, I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime, But is there because he's a victim of the times. I wear the black for those who never read, Or listened to the words that Jesus said, About the road to happiness through love and charity, Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me. Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose, In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes, But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back, Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black. I wear it for the sick and lonely old, For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold, I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been, Each week we lose a hundred fine young men. And, I wear it for the thousands who have died, Believen' that the Lord was on their side, I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died, Believen' that we all were on their side. Well, there's things that never will be right I know, And things need changin' everywhere you go, But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right, You'll never see me wear a suit of white. Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

SUNSET BLVD. (1950) Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) "Alright Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up".
Sunset Boulevard with Gloria Swanson and William Holden. This is from the final scene of the movie, when Norma Desmond says "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." She then walks down the spiral stair case. Earlier in the movie she says "I Am Big, It's the Pictures That Got Small ". The opening scene has William Holden floating face down in a swimming pool.
Sunset Boulevard - Gloria Swanson gives one of the most amazing performances ever captured on film. Lately I've been thinking a lot about how amazing she was as Norma Desmond.
SUNSET BLVD. Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) . . . "I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille."
The best movie about Hollywood and one of the best movies ever is Sunset Boulevard. It starred Gloria Swanson - a faded silent film era star - as faded silent film star Norma Desmond. Swanson herself was among the first nominees in the inaugural Best Actress category and was runnerup in 1950 for her role as Desmond. In what is one of the most eerily creepy performances ever by a woman on film Swanson delivered the mother of all lines when she said: "I am big; it's the pictures that got small."
