In the small town of Ashland, Pennsylvania, Route 61 takes an unexplained detour; a “Keep Out” sign straddles the original highway. Ignore the warning and you'll arrive in the abandoned town of Centralia, where an underground mine fire has been burning since 1962 when residents accidentally ignited a vein of anthracite coal. The Island of Poveglia - Its darkened shores are strewn with polished human bones. It is supposed to be so scary that no tourists are ever allowed to set foot on it As the Black Death spread through Europe, the island was used as a lazaretto and plague pit. Living victims, including children and babies, were taken to the island and thrown into the pits with the rotting corpses and left to die. Over 160, 000 people died here and their spirits still wander.
The Devil's Playground...Stull Cemetery - The cemetery located in Stull and has gained an amount of dubious recognition due to various urban legends referring to the Devil, the occult, and as being a supposed gateway to Hell. Stull Cemetery is supposedly the most evil place on earth, with a hidden staircase that descends directly into the bowels of hell. Rumor has it that even the Pope will not fly his plane over the grounds of Stull, because it is cursed.
