Why you shouldn't make your own Mod Podge
Shouldn T, Mod Podge, Craft Glue, Shouldnt, Modpodge, Craft Ideas, Podge Rocks, Crafts
Why you shouldn't make your own Mod Podge. ~ Mod Podge Rocks! (Kel's note: Having decoupaged for years, I can tell you that it's truth. I have used glue and other concoctions, but I always go back to Mod Podge. It works and with coupons, it's not that expensive. Better a few more bucks spent than a ruined project.)
Why you SHOULDN'T make your own mod podge. The actual stuff has sealants in it that watered down craft glue cannot give you. Homemade 'mod podge' will yellow and fall apart over time.
You should at least know this, so you can decide how long you want your project to last. Might not need it to last long. Nice to have a choice. "Why you shouldnt make your own Mod Podge"
Why you should NOT make homemade Mod Podge for important craft projects. for crafts/projects you want to last for a long time use the professional stuff
Why you SHOULDNT make your own Mod Podge! Podge is a step above craft glue in terms of the sealing properties. Mod Podge is glue & a sealer. there are varnishes, etc. in the formula that don't exist in craft glues. The bonding properties of Mod Podge are way stronger than that of (most) craft or school glues.
Why you shouldn't make your own Mod Podge. ~ Mod Podge Rocks! if you really care about your projects you won't make your own MP- yellowing/flaking/peeling? yuck
The bonding properties of Mod Podge are way stronger than that of (most) craft or school glues. the ingredients in Mod Podge are superior. Mod Podge costs more than craft glue. it lasts longer and is more durable on projects. A lot of therecipes take craft glue and dilute it with water, which is just about the worst thing you can do to make a decoupage medium
Why you shouldn't make your own Mod Podge Why you shouldn't make Mod Podge. Like a lot of Pinterest tutorials "possibly" well meaning people put on Pinterest the modpodge one has always made my eyes roll. Seriously, if you don't really know what is in the product please don't mislead people into thinking you do. At least this isn't hazardous like the silly health advice I see on here. I still think MP is overpriced but if I want a product that behaves like modpodge that's what I need to get.
Why you SHOULDNT make your own Mod Podge!!!!!!!!! Podge is a step above craft glue in terms of the sealing properties. Mod Podge is glue, but it's also a sealer and there are varnishes, etc. in the formula that don't exist in craft glues. The bonding properties of Mod Podge are way stronger than that of (most) craft or school glues. Long story short, the ingredients in Mod Podge are not the same as craft glue, and in 99% of cases are superior. That is why Mod Podge costs more than craft glue. And that is why it lasts longer and is more durable on projects. A lot of the homemade recipes take craft glue and dilute it with water, which is just about the worst thing you can do to make a decoupage medium of any sort. You're taking a glue that is inferior to decoupage medium and made it even thinner by adding water. This is why I always see pictures of ruined furniture or home decor items that didn't last more than a few years before the paper started peeling off or yellowing BADLY. In the short term, the projects might seem okay, but over the years, the projects go down the toilet. Decoupage medium is more expensive than glue, but you'll notice on the glue aisle of any craft store that there is a wide range of pricing depending on what the specific glue does. The more specialty the application, the more it's going to cost. Mod Podge might be more expensive than glue and water, but the 8 oz. bottle lasts a long time, and you can always use a 40% coupon (do an online search to find them Michaels always has them!!!).

Homemade Mod Podge is crazy expensive. Make it yourself. You need.... A jar, Elmers Glue, Water. Empty the glue into a jar. My jar is just an old Salsa Bottle. Add water... You need it to be 50% glue and 50% water. Shake shake shake... And you are done!! I know it works because i used it to paste this paper label onto the jar :) It would make a great gift for your crafting buddies also.
Mod Podge is crazy expensive. Make it yourself. When printing a quote or using one with markers spray first with hairspray let dry than glue to project. Most people use 1 cup glue to 1/3 cup water or a 50/50 mix. Use Elmer's Glue, not School Glue if you want a waterproof finish. Otherwise, your homemade Mod Podge will actually attract any moisture in the air and turn cloudy. If you use regular Elmer's Glue-All, it will be waterproof when your project is dry.

Best (eco-friendly!) drain cleaner: 3/4-1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup white vinegar. Pour in drain and cover with plug. Let sit 30 minutes, then run hot water through drain for 3-4 minutes. Voila! Clean drain.
#Cleaning Tip- Did you know your kitchen drain should be cleaned once a month? Pour a handful of baking soda and then 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the drain. It’ll create a small erupting volcano, so cover the drain for several minutes and then rinse with cold water after 1/2 hour. http://mstcleaning.com
Keep the plumber away- Natural Homemade Drain Cleaner: Unclogging drains with baking soda and vinegar, without using chemicals. It's easier than you think, and way less expensive.
Homemade Drain Cleaner. Same as other blog post/pin uses vinegar and baking soda. My experience is that a mico-sized snake to clean drains will really get the drain going again.
Unclog drain: If you have a moderately clogged drain, try this homemade drain cleaner: Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar. Be careful. The two ingredients interact with foaming and fumes, so replace the drain cover loosely. Let the concoction set for about three hours before running water. If you know the slow drain is from grease, try this treatment: Pour in 1/2 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of baking soda followed by a teakettle of boiling water. Allow to sit overnight.
.This does work. Baking soda and vinegar to clean drains.

DIY Drain Cleaner - ANOTHER CLEANING IDEA
Unclog drain. Keep the plumber away- Natural Homemade Drain Cleaner 12 Aug posted by TidyMom 19 Comments Did you know that some Feng Shui masters say that clogged drains deplete finances, health, aspirations, travel, clog sinuses, and simply, wreak havoc in general. I don’t know about you……..but a clogged drain can be rather pesky and annoying, not to mention, rather costly if you have to call in a plumber. So to keep my life running smoothly, both literally and metaphorically, I look in my kitchen pantry for all the ingredients I need to unclog my pipes and I can do it without causing damage to the environment or my pocket book! Unclog a drain with Baking Soda and Vinegar Pour 3/4-1 cup of baking soda in the drain. Pour 1/2 cup vinegar in the drain and immediately cover the drain (I use a plug or set a plate over it – you want to keep everything inside the drain) Leave everything to sit and work for about 30 mins (don’t use the sink during this time) After 30 mins, remove the cover and let hot water run thru the pipes for about 2-3 mins. for really tough clogs you may need to repeat – but I find if I do this on a regular basis (about once a month) it keeps my drains clear and fresh with out any problems.
