      Chalkboard Placemats Instructions 1. Lightly sand one side of the place mats with superfine-grit sandpaper. 2. Wipe off the place mats with a damp cloth after sanding. 3. Paint chalkboard paint onto the place mat. Let dry. 4. Sand the paint gently until smooth. Wipe off, then apply a second coat. Let dry, sand and apply 3rd coat if necessary.
