    The traditional Sicilian cannoli are fried pastries which were originally eaten during Carnival but they have been so successful that they have become the most popular and appreciated Sicilian cake. They are now eaten throughout the year. The cannoli are formed by an envelope of fried and crispy dough. Traditionally chocolate chips were not used but candied pumpkin and candied orange cubes.
