Feb 27, 2013. On the left is a skein of 100 percent wool dyed with orange and yellow food coloring; on the right are two skeins wool dyed with Rit. In the past I've had issues with Rit because it blends into a single color so easily. The trick to keeping the colors separated (not easy when you're working in one big pot of water) seems to be 1. much less water and 2. really cram the yarn into a small area. 3. Get everything hot and vinegary before slowly spot-dying with Rit. deborah-smith.com

I know this isn't a mermaid, but I have dreams like this ALL THE TIME, where my house fills up with water and I swim to the ceiling and stuff. It's cool! Love this picture.
