Inspiration (Annabella's middle name was taken from this area) Rhine Valley, St Goar, Lorelei Rock

Burg Eltz Eltz Castle is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Germany. It lies in a romantic setting surrounded by an unspoiled landscape, inviting and majestic at the same time - like a fairy-tale castle come to life. Eltz castle has remained in the possession of the same family for over 800 years.

Castles - castles everywhere! Rhine River, Germany. Went on boat cruise very nice. Also the vineyards look so beautiful along with the castle. Would like to do a longer trip someday.

I think I probably have three of this map. Between our two tours in Germany we have toured every castle open to tourists, taken 4 cruises up the Rhine, and one time it took us 4 days to travel 26 miles during wine tasting season. Oh my! :)

Loreley Rock, Middle Rhine Valley, Germany

The Rhine River. On my last day in Germany I went on a river cruise down the Rhine, passed by dozens of castles, cute villages and finished the tour at a local vineyard. Beautiful.

✯ Lorelei Rock and view of the Rhine River bend near Sankt Goarshausen, Germany. According to German legend a beautiful young maiden, named Lorelei, who threw herself headlong into the river in despair over a faithless lover was transformed into a siren and could occasionally be heard singing on a rock along the Rhine River. Her hypnotic music lured sailors to their death. The rock soars 120 m (393ft) above the water line.
