My school follows Jan Richardson’s guided reading model and we introduce one Dolch word per day. These 35 books each focus on ONE word. It was hard to easily find books that focused on just one word at a time, so we have been using these. The kids love them, can easily read them, and get the chance to see the sight word of the day in context. $

rainbow writing (did something similar to this with the alphabet when one of my nanny charges were in kindergarten --- except they picked the color traced the letter 3 times, said the letter name and sound(s), repeated with at least 4 other colors), so I love this for learning spelling words. Could make writing them so much more fun and exciting.

Sight words - This is a fun hands on center to help your students learn the sight word spellings. Students write the words in the rice using chopsticks or their fingers. It's a great sensory activity and is very exciting, too! Sight words for grade K-2 are provided. Center can also be used for identifying letters/numbers, spelling various vowel patterns, math skills, etc. Blank "Veggie" cards are provided for you to adapt the center to your lessons.
