Idea for upset students????Alternative for timeout. Mind Jar. It is really easy to make. The goal is that when they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, we finish our meditation. This one is a really great technique to use in lieu of timeout.
Mind Jar -- meditation tool for all ages: "when stressed, overwhelmed, or upset, imagine the glitter as your thoughts/emotions. when you shake the jar, imagine your head full of whirling thoughts/emotions. then watch as they slowly settle together, and you calm down."
Kids' settle down jar...Calm Down Jar This cute Time Out idea was on Pinterest and I decided I must make one! All I did was fill up a pint jar with water, 1 drop of blue food coloring and some glitter. I have whichever kid is "doing time" shake the bottle and watch it settle. Once the glitter has settled, they've had time to calm down and talk about their problem. It's quite soothing actually
Time-out bottles/calming jar... Fill a bottle with 3/4 water, one bottle of glitter glue, & ultra fine glitter. Then send this bottle with your child to timeout and they can watch it settle to calm them. Once the glitter is settled their time is up! wow this is such a good idea! if they mess with the bottle their time out time is longer. awesome idea! I like this better than a glass jar!
