rainbow writing (did something similar to this with the alphabet when one of my nanny charges were in kindergarten --- except they picked the color traced the letter 3 times, said the letter name and sound(s), repeated with at least 4 other colors), so I love this for learning spelling words. Could make writing them so much more fun and exciting.

Mystery Word sacks for Reading Stations. This is for a lower grade, but I thought this would be great for prefixes and suffixes with different roots. Have different labeled index cards inside for students to manipulate the parts of the word before writing it. Writing a definition based on the word parts would help mastery. pre + view = view before

Spelling word practice. If we used a board like this, it would save us from having to photocopy those packets every week. We'd be able to do just a front & back page for vocab list and spelling list instead.(And plus, these activities are way more fun than the current ones we assign.)

One Extra Degree: Word Work Center etc. filled with white boards, sand boxes, file folder games and puppets.

Stamp A Spider: Word Work station use chunks of the week to stamp short o words {-ot, –op, –og} onto strips of paper that became the spider’s legs.  Have body templates premade so that all the kids have to do is stamp the chunk words!
