Saw this idea of making giant pencils out of pringles cans. Took it one step further and turned them into Box Tops collection bins. I will use them for decorations at Back to School night and Class Assignment Day. Then maybe some lucky students will win one of their own!

File crate with each student's name on it. File work for them to do when they are "done" that is differentiated. you can also put work in there that they need extra practice with.

wow! Lowes sells these for about $20

work boxes, have one for each student, when they finish their work they can go to their work box and pull out things to work on that the teacher has placed in there. (lets the teacher assign different things for the student/if they need extra practice in an area)

so many cute ideas for the classroom...bucket fillers, smarty pants, word wall,...

use address labels, clipboard, and large index cards. Write your notes on the address labels as you walk around and observe. Later, stick them onto the child's index card. Then, during parent/teacher conferences, just pull out the notecard and share your observations......

Quiet Critters-when you decide it is time for students to work on independent work, pass out quiet critters- take them away from students who talk. At the end of the activity anyone who still has a quiet critter receives a prize, point, incentive, etc...
