Here is a dictionary reference poster that our class made to help organize our thoughts about how dictionaries help readers and writers. I just copied a page out of our class dictionary on a color copy machine for the center.

Stop and Think and Jot chart... I like it except I would take of "good" and start it with Readers... because I expect ALL readers to do this and some students do not see themselves as good readers!!

How do you hook your readers? - anchor chart. I'd love to see this turned into a class built resource, where students add examples from the literature they've read throughout the year. Maybe over time, they'll create new categories!
