The back can be a tough place to target. Most activities work other muscle groups, and even chest and arm-building moves can focus on the front of the body. While your genes will affect where your body stores fat, there are some steps you can take to keep your upper body trim.

    Sitting for hours at your work desk or in a classroom can cause weakness and stiffness in your buttocks that can make them feel saggy. Take a quick break and stretch your legs and hips, especially your hamstrings and piriformis. The hamstrings are a group of muscles in the back of your thighs, and the piriformis is a small muscle deep in your buttocks that assist in rotating your hip and turning the leg and foot outward. You can do standing stretching for both at your desk or at a counter.

    Relax a Pulled or Sore Muscle: RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, & Elevation). Gently stretch after the most sever pain is gone to prevent stiffness. Take ibuprofen to alleviate pain & swelling, for 2-5 days after injury. Try analgesic cream like Tiger Balm to relieve pain. Soak in hot bath 3-4 days after injury as moist heat brings oxygen to tissues & loosens muscles (even better w Epsom salt). Don't put heat on muscle till after the 1st 24-48 hrs, but instead use ice to reduce swelling.
