Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls 2lb gr beef 1T oil 1onion 1cl garlic 1sm cabbage 29oz diced tomatoes 8oz tomato sauce 1/2c water 1t ground black pepper 1t sea salt heat olive oil over med heat, brown gr beef & onion. + garlic, cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, pepper, & salt. Bring to boil. Cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, or until cabbage is tender. Baked cabbage rolls...substitute ground beef with chicken or turkey and quinoa for rice. *10/4/12 - Made this meal for my husband tonight, and he rated it a 9! I myself thought it was pretty good too. The only thing my husband didn't like was the raisins in the meat, other than that he thought it was great. I will definitely be making this a household meal at the Mintz residence!*
Preparation:In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring, until ground beef is no longer pink and onion is tender.Add the garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute.Add the chopped cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, pepper, and salt. Constantinescu Spetler's Stuffed Cabbage Rolls_ This recipe is the winner of our “My Family Recipe Contest,” sponsored by Le Creuset, and comes from the Constantinescu Spetler family in Romania. To keep the cabbage leaves from falling apart during blanching, boil the cabbages whole and remove the leaves as they become soft until you have the number you need.
