Place-Mat Purse How To 1. Fold a place mat in half widthwise, so that right sides are facing each other. 2. Pin the ends of the cording to the inside edges near the top of bag. Sew cord to mat to secure in place. 3. Pin the rest of the open sides together. Stitch together both sides, then remove pins. 4. Create a gusset bottom by pulling the sides apart and sewing straight across to create a triangle shape. 5. Flip bag right side out and push out the corners. 6. The easiest closure option is to leave the top open, but you can also sew a zipper on, add Velcro, or attach snaps.

Eggplant placemat purse

I LOVE these and am always needing a place to secure the silverware we bring along. We have some awesome picnic baskets, but sometimes the basket isn't practical to carry where we're going and we need to be able to throw our picnic stuff in a backpack. These would be awesome to pair with freezer-paper wrapped sandwiches and pickles! Can't wait to make these and go picnicking!!
