This idea is so smart and simple, I'm ashamed I didn't come up with it first. =] "This is one of my FAVORITE classroom management tools!! It can be soooo time consuming to answer the questions...Can we use markers?, Do we turn this in?, Is this a talking activity? I love using these assignment choice signs to answer those questions without me doing the work. Once I give directions for an activity, I quickly place checks and X's by the cards and my students know exactly where to look for…

Morning routine: This would be great to introduce the first week of school that way the students know what is expected. You could have the students get their backpacks and go through the schedule together. This would also help because later in the year, the morning would be a relaxing time for all and the teacher could even get some stuff done instead of answering a million questions.

Boggle! Obviously this could be done with a printout or marker, but I just adore the use of magnet letters. It would make a great center, whole group or choice time activity.

Substitute Report

FREE! This has been a life saver for me! I attach this Substitute Report (one for each class) to my lesson plans. It easily allows subs to provide feedback (via a checklist) on class behavior, if they followed my lesson plan, how the students behaved, noise level, areas of difficulty, outstanding students, challenging students, and general comments. I receive the best feedback from my subs now.

Chit chat chart- pull a square of the chart when a child is talking while the teacher is talking. If all 3 are pulled lose time at recess...............good for a chatty class

Exit Ticket - great idea! Use a dry erase board with the question. Have students line up and whisper answer to teacher on the way to lunch or at the end of the day! No paper! Great way review a main concept learned that day!
