To remove pet urine smells or other odors from carpet, rub vinegar into area and let sit for 10-15mins. Pour water onto area and scrub or use carpet shampooer with water. Sprinkle baking soda + cinnamon (or other carpet powder) onto area. Let sit 15-20 minutes. Leaves home smelling like cinnamon (or whatever smell is in carpet powder)!
Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelling funky. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and one cup vinegar, then a second time with hot water and half cup baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. Works like a charm!
Add orange peels (or any citrus peel) to a quart of white vinegar in a closed container and let it set for two weeks. Combine citrus/vinegar solution half/half with water and use for cleaning. Works on floors, tile, fixtures, etc. Smells good and is tough on scum! Best of all there are no chemicals.
White Vinegar - any brand - will take the smell of cat urine out of ANYTHING! It is safe and natural...just put it in your washing machine, use it in sink for a soak, or put it directly on carpet....It works better than any "pet urine" branded chemical product I've ever tried....and believe me I've tried them all having dogs and cats.
