Fabric balls - love the twine over the fabric. The core of the balls could be styrofoam. I would wind enough fabric to make them squishy. Then add twine. Or maybe yarn.

Make as Home Decor or Christmas Ornaments baby mobile :: DIY- Blow up balloons in different sizes, pick your choice or string or yarn, use Modge Podge (homemade recipe: 1/2 cup glue + 1/2 cup water), run string through glue and wrap balloon as desired. Let dry, pop balloon & Voila!
