Computer screen on a contact lens. Over in Belgium, scientists have finally taken a crucial step toward building screens into contact lenses. Jelle De Smet and a team of researchers at Ghent University built an LCD screen in a curved contact lens. Still an early prototype though.
Triggerfish by Sensimed is a smart contact lens embedded with a strain gauge and a wireless MEMS sensor for monitoring intraocular pressure in patients being monitored for glaucoma. (Currently a pressure check entails an office visit and is but a single point in time. In the old days, patients were admitted to the hospital for hourly pressure readings by the hapless resident on call.) It is under clinical trial. #Triggerfish #Sensimed #Glaucoma #Medical_Technology #Contact_Lens
The Innovega eyewear system is made up of two parts: glasses and contact lenses. The contact lenses give you enhanced focusing abilities, so you can see near and far at levels beyond what the normal eye can see. For example, if you put a finger up to your eye while wearing the contacts, you can actually see the fine details of your fingerprint; whereas, the natural eye can't focus on an object so close up.
