I believe it is important to teach all children about the different types of communities one can live in, urban, suburbs, and rural. This template could be used to teach this to children but in a fun and effective way.

Expository Writing Lesson~ Give each pair of students a small-scale city or county map. Each partner chooses a different starting location on the map. Then the pair selects a meeting place on the map. Each partner writes directions that explain how he will get to the meeting place from his starting location. Afterward, the partners read each other’s directions, testing them for accuracy.

This is a landform flipbook that students can create in order to differentiate between the different types of landforms. This activity could be done as guided practice, and it could also be an assessment tool after a lesson on landforms.

I love this landform activity and it could be easily adjusted for any landforms we study in the habitat unit. This could also be a good take home kit because the materials are simple but the project could be helpful with an adult.
