Alice Walker "The Color Purple". This is one of the best stories I have ever read. They story of a woman who seems to have no rights whatsoever and manages to get out of the hell she lives in with the help of others but mainly by being very strong herself. Alice Walker received the well-deserved Pulitzer price for this in 1983.

Alice Walker. ♥ Alice Malsenior Walker is an American author, poet, and activist. She has written both fiction and essays about race and gender. Best Book "The color Purple."

The Book Thief - (This book is one of my newer favorites. It is incredible; he uses language in ways I had never before conceived of. It is perhaps an unconventional read, but it has taken its place among my favorite books of all time- as it has among all those to whom I've recommended it).

At the age of 16 Sussana Kaysen's parents placed her a mental ward. She shares the story of her 2yr stay.

I wonder if this is any good to read? I've not seen the movie and am not sure if I should just watch it or read the book first.

The Color Purple- amaaaazing! I can watch this movie a thousand times. I think I've seen it about 30 times seriously! Whoopi was spectacular! Oprah was amazing and you loved to hate Danny Glover!

When just thinking of that book gives you both a warm fuzzy feeling because you loved it and an ache in your heart because it's over.

Anything by this author is worth reading. Her books are fantastic reads.

This book is amazing! It totally changed the way I look at God and relationships with the people around me.
