*A Sweetness to the Soul by Jane Kirkpatrick // This is not a book you fly through, you'll want to savor each word. It's the story of the real Joseph and Jane Sherar who were builders/architects/pioneers in Oregon in the late 1800's. The characterization, the real events and historical details are just beautiful. JK is always a fave and this is one of her best.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is absolutely beautiful. A must read for everyone who loves travel. Add to list.

I first read Exodus at the age of 13. It was my introduction to the Holocaust. I had never heard about the atrocities committed in the concentration camps. This was the beginning of my loss of childish innocence.
