The Royal Hawaiian Hotel - Covering ten acres of prime Waikiki beachfront, the site of The Royal Hawaiian holds a special place in Hawaiian history. Before foreign visitors frequented the islands, Waikiki was home to Hawaiian royalty and chiefs. Since the day The Royal Hawaiian Hotel opened in 1927, the original six-story, 400-room structure fashioned in the Spanish-Moorish style of architecture has attracted the most elite of guests including an array of pop culture legends.

The Royal Hawaiian -- so very pink, so very '40's, so very elegant and classic (in a pink Hawaiian kind of way) and just a really distinctive place. A favorite!

This vintage picture of Hawaiian art -Seated Hula Girl- was Menu Art and graced the covers of menus at Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki in the early 1950's. This romantic, impressionist portrait contrasts a native woman with popular flower Bird of Paradise. The subject in this painting is one of the artist, John Kelly's, favorite models, Morian, who was both a hula dancer and violinist for the Honolulu Symphony. John Kelly continues to be one of Hawaii's most cherished artists.
