This time of year, my Grampa always had bowls of walnuts (and other nuts) in their shells with nut crackers on every table. I remember sitting for hours and cracking open walnuts and almonds and filberts and pecans with him. He hadn't set out bowls of nuts in years, but somehow this year, so soon after his passing, I miss it most of all. ♥

Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts - You won't believe how easy this is to make, and it's completely addictive!
Candied Pecans 1 egg white 1 T of water 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 lb pecan halves 3/4 c of sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp of salt Preheat oven to 250. Beat the water, vanilla and egg white in a large bowl until foamy. Stir in the pecans. In a separate bowl combine the sugar, ground cinnamon and salt. Gradually add mixture to the pecans making sure every nut is coated. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan and roast for 1 hr, stirring every 15 min. Let cool, store in an airtight container.
