This first day of school worksheet is a great way to learn about your students' passions, before you stay up all night finishing up that game. Craft these half-eaten homes for fall in your classroom this September or October!

Great apple craft for kids Easy September fall craft
Above is a perfectly sweet apple craft that teachers may hang any where inside the classroom to decorate for fall. Apple units are frequently taught to preschool through second grade in the United States during the months of September and October. This simple little apple craft is so easy to teach to young students. Every student should have the following supplies to complete it successfully: white cotton balls red, green and brown markers two white paper plates white glue scissors five green pom-poms one pair of googly eyes one tiny red pom-pom for the worm's nose a hole punch a few black beans Directions: Step-by-Step Color the backsides of both white paper plates with a bright, ruby red marker. Cut from the center of one plate, a large or small hole. Paste onto the front white side of one paper plate, a cardboard stem and two leaves. These should be colored with markers before gluing onto the inside edge of the back plate. Paste on top of this first plate the second. Apply glue to the circumference of the entire edge of the back plate. Both of the red sides of the paper plates should be facing away from each other in order to create a three dimensional apple. Let the paper apples dry thoroughly. Glue soft cotton balls to the interior of your apple shape to represent the white insides of an apple. Paste inside of the apple, a tiny, green pom-pom worm. Glue on the worm's googly eyes and tiny red pom-pom nose. Glue a few little black bean inside the apple to represent 'seeds.' Punch out a hole at the top of your apple's stem so that you may hang your clever little 3D paper apple plate anywhere inside of the classroom. This is wormy apple craft includes soft, bumpy, and rough textures. Pat Jaswell of Jaswell Farms in Smithfield gives a lesson on apple picking to 27 children from Harrisville Preschool. The children and parents got to pick Macintosh apples, just ripe for picking at the 113-year-old farm on Swan Road. The farm orchard has 11 different kinds of apples and today they did their first pressing of apple cider.

Good Ideas, For Kids, Vs Tattling, Behavior Management, Classroom Management, Tattling Vs Reporting, Reporting Vs, Classroom Ideas
Reporting vs Tattling, she has a good idea about the tattle jar, but I just wonder if some serious situations got skipped over on the days she threw out the papers instead of reading them. Kids aren't always just trying to get someone in trouble, though it can be more often than not.
Reporting vs. Tattling... I don't like "Important vs. Unimportant" because I feel like that's an invalidation of what a child thinks about the situation... but take that out, and this is a GREAT idea for kids!! (and for adults to remember too!)
Reporting vs. Tattling chart. I like this! I think it is confusing for kids to know the difference.
I know some adults who should learn this. Great teaching tool for kids!
More of a classroom idea, but could work at home too

Prohibits roll away dice. Seriously, why didn't I think of this?

Need to do this with my classroom dice so they don't fly all over the place on "accident." @Classroom Ideas
Genius. No more dice rolling on the floor or across the room or just lost in general. Do this for math games.
Math Center organization. Shake the dice IN the box and peek through. Why didn't I think of this!
I would glue the top shut for my toddlers at work it would be a great math center manipulative!
Control dice games with an upside down tupperware!.... Why didn't I think of this!
Great way to keep dice from flying around the room during math games!
I spend WAY too much time on Pinterest. When I saw this linky (hosted by Ashley from Just Reed) it looked like something I had to join in on. So...in no particular order, here are my 10 favorite pins for math ideas. I have added links back to the original sources (as far as I could tell, anyhow). If I have incorrectly given credit, please let me know. Thanks! One of my first inspirations while planning for Math workstations: Source: Adventures in Teaching No more flying dice...right? Head on over and grab a great deal while you can :) Items are anywhere from 15% to 33% off. Click on the picture below to visit my store and see what's marked down! Oh, and you still have a few days to enter the giveaway for a new pencil sharpener from Classroom Friendly Supplies:
I was buzzing around pinterest, websites, and the internet and saw some simply clever teaching ideas. I thought you would love them too! Dice Game Containers It drives me crazy when students dice are rolling on the floor, and making a ton of noise during dice games in math. These little plastic containers are the perfect solution! You can purchase a set of 4 of them at the Dollar Store. Milk Crate Chairs I am always looking for creative storage solutions, and these milk crates are the next best thing for my classroom needs. I can't wait to purchase some milk crates, fun material, boards and cushion and create these milk crate chairs. These crates will be perfect for my center material storage, and will not take up space in the classroom because they will double as seats for my small group table. Brain Sprinkles This idea just cracks me up, and I know it will make the students smile! Every once and awhile the kids are stumped on coming up with an answer, and brain sprinkles will help them loosen up and hopefully help their brain waves retrieve the answer. Brain sprinkles are a great way if you want them to be motivated right before a test. Tattle Monsters This is how you turn simple tissue boxes into something super eye catching. This is a great way for students to write down what may be on their mind, and put it into the monster's mouth. Hopefully, this will allow the students to voice their concern and get their tattle out of the way, allow you to focus on teaching, and check in with the tattle monsters as it fits into your daily schedule. Here's to a year of productivity, and not a lot of tattling :)
I am linking up with Ashley Reed over at Just Reed. This week's Ten Pin Linky is Math Idea Pins. There are so many wonderful ideas out there. I love teaching math, but often struggle to get it all in with our math series (Go Math!) by following our counties pacing guide. My goal this year is to incorporate math groups by using the Daily 5 for Math. Here are a few activities I have found on Pinterest to introduce a concept or to use as practice. 1. I love this board and have purchased Cara Carroll's Calendar Companion. http://pinterest.com/source/justreed-ashley.blogspot.ca/ 2. This can be challenging at the beginning of first grade, but the kids rise to the occasion with lots of practice:) http://pinterest.com/source/mrswilliamsonskinders.blogspot.com/ 3. The clock visual is great once the concept of time has been introduced not to mention it can replace the "That time is lunch?" question:) http://pinterest.com/source/teacherspayteachers.com/ 4. No more dice falling on the floor:) http://pinterest.com/source/sunnydaysinsecondgrade.blogspot.com/ 5. 6. I have a math vocabulary pocket chart, but this is so much more appealing and attention grabbing. http://pinterest.com/source/justreed-ashley.blogspot.ca/ 7. http://pinterest.com/source/stepintosecondgrade.blogspot.com/ 8. This is such a great visual from A Cupcake For the Teachers for sums of 10. http://pinterest.com/source/acupcakefortheteacher.blogspot.com/ 9. We always chant, "The little hand tells the hour and the big hand counts by 5." 10. My first unit on TpT was Ladybug Addition. I plan on going back to update it, but am on vacation for 2 more weeks:) So, until then, Ladybug Addition will be FREE! I would love you to leave some TpT feedback if you download it:) http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Ladybug-Addition-Mats
