I need to try this! "I have been doing this for years....it works.....The newspaper will prevent any grass and weed seeds from germinating, but unlike fabric, it will decompose after about 18 months. By that time, any grass and weed seeds that were present in the soil on planting will be dead. It’s green, it’s cheaper than fabric, and when you decide to remove or redesign the bed later on, you will not have the headache you would with fabric."

Stepables: Perfect Plants for Paths and Walkways

All you need is a Tuna fish can, PVC pipe, Spray Paint, Dollar Store or Thrift Store Vase and candles. Beautiful walk way or patio lighting. When I made a few of these for a friends Wedding we spray painted them silver and then accented them with flowers and ribbon. I used Galvanized Pipe which is found in the plumbing department of your local hardware store. I purchased an 8' pipe for around $3.00 and cut them to length.
