If you were born in 1964, you never had a REAL potato for the head of Mr. Potato Head - in 1964, Hasbro came out with the first PLASTIC head for old Mr. Potato Head! No more smelly, spouting potatoes to be found in toy chests across the US anymore! I was born in 1963 and when my mom said that they used REAL vegetables with their's, my 4 year old self accused her of lying.
If you were born in 1964, that year Mr Potato Head got a plastic head for the first time that came in the box -- no more rotting real potatoes need be turning up in toy chests after the year you were born!

PAST Mr. Potato Head The Original Mr Potato head was a little different to the one we know now but of course he inspired the modern interpretation (iloveny,Anon, 2012)

This is a vintage Jumping Mr. Potato Head. He is so much fun and absolutely adorable. He works perfectly and jumps all over. You can put the jackhammer in his hands and he looks like hes on a job site. He comes with a ton of accessories including eyes, noses, ears, hats, a fishing pole and a kite. He has his original box, although it is not in perfect condition. This is a great vintage toy. I have a video of him jumping in case you want to see. Send me a message and Ill be happy to share it.
