These is my Words - by Nancy E Turner One of my very favorite books ---- everyone should read this book **********
These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. Can a life seem so cruel yet romantic at the same time? That is how I feel about Sarah Prine and her extraordinary (yet so ordinary) life as she, her family and companions settle the Arizona Territory in the late 1800’s. Sarah begins keeping a diary as a young adolescent. Her writing is rough and unrefined, yet conveys her heartfelt feelings and thoughts. As time passes...

Night Road is about a girl who was in foster care most of her young life. As Kristin Hannah herself told me she becomes the heroine in this story. When I read this book it brought up the fears I have of how people will judge my children who I adopted from foster care. In this book the girl was blamed for an tragic accident but in the end she proved her worth. A very good book.
Love every book by her!

BOOKS: I collect antique books. I buy new books. Yet, I have no time to read them, and when I do, my brain won't let me focus. THere is something about a book, it's tangible, and the jackets can be quite beautiful. Electronic books are not my thing.
I've never met a book I didn't want to snuggle with. I like old books best. Books worth reading.....any book is worth reading. Reading is the best exercise for your brain. If I win the lottery, I'll build a library in my home.
“There was the smell of old books, a smell that has a way of making all libraries seem the same. Some say that smell is asbestos. ” ― Scott Douglas

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot - a great read that brings the true story of Henrietta Lacks to life.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - Rebecca Skloot - One of the most amazing books I have ever read!
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. Most intriguing non-fiction I have ever read.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, a fascinating true story that weaves together modern science, ethics, and a small piece of American Black history.
The cancer cells harvested without consent from Henrietta Lacks, a tobacco farmer who lay dying in the "colored" ward of Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1951, led to one of the most imporant medical breakthroughs in modern medicine. Now, a Tennessee mother is objecting to author Rebecca Skloot's telling of that story in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, calling the bestselling book "pornographic" and seeking to have it banned from local schools.
Local mom objects to controversial book on summer reading list: this bestseller details the true story of a poor black woman who had a sample of her cells taken for research in 1951 without her knowledge or consent, while she was in the hospital with cervical cancer. Those cells have led to major medical breakthroughs. The book addresses issues of medical ethics and race inequality. It also contains themes of infidelity and violence, and some local parents say it's unsuitable for teens.
