I saw Secretariat win by 31 lengths at the Belmont (well, not in person) in June 1973, a record in time and distance that still stands today as do many of this horse's other records.  It was like he had an extra gear somewhere and just flew. "Big Red" loved to run and was dubbed as "a tremendous machine" by the sportscaster calling the race.
