    Tension trick: To test your bobbin tension pull up on thread. Thread should unwind just slightly and bobbin case should drop an inch or two. If thread unwinds without resistance and case slips to the floor, your bobbin tension is too loose. If bobbin case doesn't budge, your bobbin tension is too tight. To tighten bobbin tension, turn tiny screw on the bobbin case a smidgen clockwise. To loosen bobbin tension, turn screw counterclockwise quarter turn or less.

    A tensioning trick you may not know - blog - fabric store | portland, oregon | cool cottons I use this all the time. Another tip, have more than one bobbin case. I have three, one for fine threads (60, 80, 100 wt), one for medium threads (35, 40, 50) one for really thick threads and specialty bobbin work threads.
