Shimanami Kaido | Japan bridges. The Shimanami Kaido route starts in Imabari and connects the main part of Shikoku with the 'mainland' of Japan. It's approx 75km long and contains of 7 bridges. A popular way of crossing the bridges is via bicycle. This is the 6th crossing - the Innoshima Bridge. This one is different to the others as you cross over by walking on a pathway inside the bridge with the heavy traffic thundering back and forth above your head.

shikoku japan - This is in Shikoku but it reminds me a ryokan I stayed at for a few days east of Tokyo called Komadori Sansou. It's on top of a mountain in a small village accessible only by cable car. Talk about quiet!!! Awesome place!
