Firework Snakes - I can still smell them...
Snake Firework, Childhood Memories, Black Mark, 4Th Of July, July Snakes, Firework Snakes, Fireworks Snakes, Snakes Fireworks
Firework Snakes - There were always black marks on our sidewalk where we lit these every 4th of July.
Firework snakes! We had these every year for 4th of July, it was our "daytime" fireworks before sparklers. One tablet would make one huge snake as long as the wind was calm. The ones they sell today are useless.

Dime Store - Glad I grew up in the days of "The Dime Store". Wood floors, items in those glass dividers, all those little doo-dads and cheap rings in that glass top case. Loved allowance day and heading to off to "Caudell's Variety Store"
Dime Store - Love the wood floors and the shopping baskets---brings back memories! The dime stores I remember always smelled good, too! Tucker's 5 & 10 was awesome but I loved the ones with creaking wooden floors too
Dime Store - Love the wood floors and the shopping baskets---brings back memories! I loved the Ben Franklin store in our neighborhood, where we'd buy paper dolls and penny candy and where, for $5, I could buy Christmas presents for my parents and siblings.
Dime Store - This looks EXACTLY like our dime store, Nelson's, back home. Still stands today(2014) and still has those same wooden floors.
Dime Store - Note the "Essential to the Experience", creaky Wooden Floor.. Our Town became a city with far less charm the day D&C closed.
Dime Store - The "5 10" (cent) stores like Woolworth's. Current equivalent: dollar stores

Encyclopedias. These were our "Internet" and oh how I hated them so! We had about 70 on our shelf and it would take most of your homework time just trying to figure out which book the required information was in and oftentimes you still couldn't find anything very helpful! #Childhood Memories #1970s #1980s
The World Book Encyclopedia-Never realized how the next generation will rarely use these if at all bc of the internet now.
I believed that if I read every volume of the World Book Encyclopedia, I would know everything there was to know. Reading it now, or any encyclopedia for that matter, these are very biased publications that, while containing useful and interesting information, definitely support a world view congenial to whatever country published them.
This was where we did our research! World Book Encyclopedias not google! Man I remember using these at my Nana's for school projects!
World Book Encyclopedia, the parents always ordered new sets of these. I remember writing many a report for school using these sets
