waterbeds - this one looks like it has been overfilled! We bought ours in 1980 - a king-size bed to replace our full size standard bed. We suffered through ours for about 3 years before buying a standard mattress based king size bed.

Ahh... The good 'ole days. My grandparents were also on a party line, so everyone had to share & keep the conversations short.
THESE DAYS, IF IT’s NOT SOMEONE’s CELL PHONE … NO ONE PICKS IT UP!! WE DON’T WANT to TALK to ANYONE WHO CALLS THE HOUSE PHONE!!
One phone in the house....When the phone rang you didn’t know who was calling until you answered. Some people still had party lines.
When the phone rang you didn't know who was calling until you answered. Also - we had 'party lines', so you had to wait until your neighbor was off the phone before you could make a call.
One phone in the house....When the phone rang you didn’t know who was calling until you answered. Even better, there were "party lines", where neighbors had different phone numbers, but shared one phone line. You could eavesdrop on a neighbor's conversation ( if so inclined).
When the phone rang you didn't know who was calling until you answered. (And then there were party lines b4 where you had your special ring and could pick up your phone to make a call and find your neighbor talking on it.)
When the phone rang you didn't know who was calling until you answered. There was only one phone in the house in a central location. Sometimes your phone line was shared with another unknown party (party line).
Back in the 50's we had 'party lines'. That meant that when you had phone service, there were at least 3 other families who shared the line, sometimes up to 5. Everyone had their own phone number, and each phone number was assigned a special ring. So, when a call came in, you might hear a long ring, a double-short ring or 3 short rings. So, you had to know how your phone would ring to know if the call was for you. ...Found on www.tailfeathersnetwork.com
