I like this idea as an in class way to help students learn their spelling words. This will not only help them to spell them but also learn the meaning of them. The only thing I dislike like about this is that it asks for an antonym and synonym when all words may not have a direct opposite or mean the same as another word.

This activity is a way to make students active readers. When students are active readers they comprehend more because they are paying attention to the text. This can be adapted for any age and grade level. You can students do this during silent reading, reading class, or any other subject area that they are reading in. This can be adapted and changed to fit any class. All you need is chart paper, and sticky notes. This also allows you to monitor is a student is reading.
