L’Opera / Jour de Pluie oil print, 1909 by Pierre Dubreuil Pierre Dubreuil was one of most widely exhibited Pictorialist photographers of his day, and his work was typified by both technical mastery and artistic innovation. Like most of his photographic colleagues, Dubreuil had experimented with the full range of processes then available in the early 20th century, including platinum, carbon, and gum bichromate. In 1904, however, he discovered the Rawlins oil process. While this process was

Another shot by Arthur Fellig, anyone who knows me knows I love photo booths. The traditional style far outshines the newer digital models. This photo represents something I and my friends have done hundreds of times (though admittedly not in dresses and heels, hah).

Transvestite in a Police Van (1941) by Weegee the Famous. Shows the discrimination at this time and the misunderstanding of transvestites in general. You don't know what's happened to lead to this photo so the interpretation is left to the audience.
"Transvestite in a Police Van", 1941. Weegee (real name Arthur Fellig) was an Austrian-born American photographer and photojournalist who single-handedly changed photography with his hard-hitting, unflinchingly realistic documentary style. Crime scenes, fires, and general zaniness often featured as subjects in his photos. However, he was also more than capable of capturing joy and tenderness even amid squalor, as exemplified in Heat Spell, or Summer, the Lower East Side.
