Draw several eye shapes and then sketch and re-sketch ideas until they are happy with (this part is important as ideas take time to develop). For those with no ideas I talked about what they liked to do (eg. hockey) and how they could use that.

I used to do this all the time, but needed this post to remind me! Eye lesson - use markers, then paint over it with water to blend.
Could do a different pattern on each cat/second grade pattern project
pattern landscapes - could do a more mature version of this with texture rubbings or tight and loose weave patterning to create depth - yr 7-9
