It’s strange to have multicolored coral so close to the beach, but it gave this whole sunset and turquoise water an even more dynamic palette. I’ve been getting used to using a wide-angle lens and aiming it down at the surf. It really distorts everything, but it’s hard to see the distortion in the final shot. - CARIBBEAN, VIRGIN GORDA - photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

I’ve been getting used to using a wide-angle lens and aiming it down at the surf. It really distorts everything, but it’s hard to see the distortion in the final shot. Also, I like the effect — it tends to make everything point a little bit towards the center. - Virgin Gorda, Caribbean - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at…

This is the very end of the long path from Toad Hall to the beach on Virgin Gorda. One thing this photo does not show is that there is about a 4-foot dropoff right below this path! It’s no problem for a grownup to navigate, but it was a little logistical challenge to get three kids down there. - Virgin Gorda, Caribbean - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

This was shot in the streets of Dresden. I had just grabbed a snack to carb up before the upcoming sunset. These sunsets are supposed to be relaxing, but I had to hot-foot it around from location to location to squeeze it all into the hour. - Dresden, Germany - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

I really rushed here at the last minute for this photo! I arrived just as the sun was setting to get some shots from above, then came down to the beach to take some more of the reflection off the wet sand. It was so perfect down there, and it lasted for a good thirty minutes after sunset, which was quite convenient! - SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA - photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

The gardens that surround the Eiffel Tower are surprisingly empty. Around dusk and sunset, it’s usually not too hard to find a nice bench to drink in the sights. Or, barring that, there are plenty of spots in the grass where you can lay out a blanket and enjoy some amazing cheese and pastries… and what is more wonderful than that? - Paris, France - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

During the Sydney photowalk, we ended up with some nice skies! I always love a bit of drama in the skies… makes everything a bit more exciting and epic I think. And just after the sun set, there were a few interesting splashes of color in the sky to break it up. - SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

I came to this wonderful, alien hillside one evening to take sunset photos. The lines and the clouds and everything lined up, and I thought it would be a perfect evening. - ZION, UTAH - photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

Every now and then you see some rocks along the coast that are not smooth, but covered with moss and clinging vegetation. It’s kind of strange how nearby rocks are worn smooth and slick, while others, like this one below, look like they could be in some deep jungle freshwater river. - Virgin Gorda, Caribbean - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com

I did a lot of snorkeling out in that bay. This whole area of Virgin Gorda is called The Baths, and it has some of the best beaches in the world. There are basically no waves of any consequence. So, if you’re just learning to snorkel, it’s a perfect environment. The kids had a lot of fun here too… lots of private little alcoves and caves! - Virgin Gorda, Caribbean - Photo from #treyratcliff Trey Ratcliff at http://www.StuckInCustoms.com
