NY bans large size sodas to help fight obesity

  • Greg Biltcliffe

Now, Men's Health magazine sometimes has some real crap in it, but I've seen this elsewhere: People who drink diet soda 3x a week are 40% more likely to be obese! Nasty stuff to try to fuel your body with.

This needs to pass in Louisiana and Texas! The large-sized soda ban passed in NY! How do you feel about it?

Usually, I stay away from topics like this, but I think this is ridiculous. I totally agree with everything Laura Luippold has said. Ridiculous waste of money on this legislation, ridiculous that the government thinks they need to make these choices for people. As for it being for the benefit of the people...that seems to be an awfully slippery slope to climb. The term 'Nanny State' comes to mind.

I think it's really ridiculous. I don't drink them, but there is such a thing as personal responsibility. The government should really have no say in your eating habits.

How stupid. Out of all the things going on in the world today, they decide to spend time and money to say that you can't have a super size soda. What's next, no more candy bars? No chips for you? Everything salt free(even though I medically need lots of salt)? Stupid.

It's government control misplaced...if the government wants to help then correctly apply its regulations to the food producers: stop putting corn in everything, allow--LORD forbid--encourage farmers to rotate crops and allows fields to rest. Feed the people better don't put a senseless regulation on a flippin sugar drink...smh

Patricia Stephens I agree with you Chris Bade this is pointless putting a ban on large soda drinks. The Gov. needs to stop wasting tax money on stupid ads ,etc. Everything is the Gov. fault they create all these problems us Americans need to take back our Country or Home Land. We would all be healthier if they'd stop putting all these additives ,etc in our foods. Use to you didn't hear of all this obesity and diabetes. They add all this stuff to make it taste good and of course I for one ,we're all gonna keep buying the products. Actually I've learned from drink Diet Soft drinks they all use Aspartame which sends your blood sugar out of control, causes so many side effects there is 92 different side effects. I am diabetic and had a huge quantity of these side effects since I've stopped drinking diet soda I'm getting back to normal blood sugar leveled to where it's supposed to be.

I grew up with slogans like "Have a Coke and a Smile" and as a kid an icy cold coke was the best remedy to thirst on a hot summer day. We all have to re-think those beliefs after research has shown its toxic if not poisonous effects on the body.
