This book was reccommended by a friend who is a librarian. It was an enjoyable read and could be given to older teens as well. It is similar to the Secret Life of Bees which I also found worth reading. This book deals with parental mental illness and alcoholism.

Defending Jacob was actually hard for me to get into. A book about a father, DA, who is working the murder of a 14 year old boy when his own son becomes the prime suspect. Although it began slow and had a dull climax the ending I honestly did not see coming, which in turn, made the book worth reading. I'm a sucker for an unsuspected ending.
