Similar to the movement and fervor of Zuhair Murad's multi-sequined jumpsuit, Giacomo Balla's abstract painting dated from 1913 evokes ideas of speed and Modernity with were to preoccupying forces in the Art Deco aesthetic and philosophy.

The Victory, by René Magritte. This makes me think of The Drawing of Three by Stephen King.
Rene Magritte - The Victory, 1939, oil on canvas
This painting is called 'The Victory', by René Magritte. It was created in 1939 using oil on canvas. René Magritte has always been one of my favourite artists, and his surrealistic view is an inspiration. I chose this piece because it was quite a literal take on my theme - open to the elements. The door opens a gateway letting in the cloud, which symbolises the element of water or air. I find this piece interesting not only because of its unusual visual depiction, but also because its an inspiration for me to think outside the box when tackling this theme (with this being a quite unique way of portraying my theme). Furthermore, I like the way he made the door look as if it was emerging from thin air, or, alternatively, from the scene (ie beach) itself. Magritte used a palette of yellows and blues, which contrast, making the painting more interesting.

Rene Magritte, the surrealist, always a favorite. I love how he silhouetted images then instead of painting the dove, he paints the sky inside the dove shape. This is the brilliant idea that influenced the treatment of my Hummingbird Logo for Magical-Marketing.com.

Composition VIII ~ Wassily Kandinsky, c.1923; oil on canvas, 55 1/8" x 79 1/8". Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. The first of more than 150 works by the artist to enter the collection. Kandinsky regarded 'Composition 8' as the high point of his postwar achievement. #art #painting
Wassily Kandinsky Composition VIII poster. Oil painting on canvas from 1923. Kandinsky created some of the most famous abstract paintings of the twentieth century, and Composition VIII is certainly among them. Full of arresting black lines and intriguing shapes, the painting moves with a sense of life and vibrance provided by the organic yellow, blue, red and green colors touched throughout the work. A great gift for fans of Kandinsky, abstract art, and vintage prints.

asylum-art: Merve Özaslan: Natural Act on Behance the work of Istanbul-based artist Merve Ozaslan via Pinterest and Behance. In a similar way to Höch, Ozaslan takes vintage black and white photographs, from people on the street to young ladies on the beach, and inserts pieces of natural scenery. The result is an ordinary urban scene juxtaposed tongue-in-cheek with green forests, a field of daisies or the swirling current of the sea. See more of Ozaslan’s work on Behance and follow her on ...

BEAUTIFUL BOUQUETS OF FLOWERS ARE SUSPENDED IN GIANT ICE BLOCKS FOR THIS EXQUISITE ART SERIES This series titled ICED FLOWERS comes from artist Azuma Makoto. Tokyo, and contains 16 blocks of ice with each holding a bouquet frozen in time. ‘Flowers will show unique expressions that they do not display in everyday life, by placed under such a different environment’. As the ice melts, the flowers will eventually wither and die – a good way to explore the ‘ephemeral and fleeting nature of beauty’.
