Ceanothus americanus, New Jersey Tea. 1.2m high and wide. Any reasonably drained soil, sun, light shade. Leaves dried and used for tea. Harvest just before flowering and dry quickly. Nitrogen fixing. Flowers rich in saponins and used as a soap substitute. Roots make red dye.
Flowering Quince / ATTRACTS: Butterflies. Plant with Butterfly Bush which also attracts Butterflies. Plant where you can see from your favorite window. Drought resistant. "Red" Flowering Quince will also attract Hummingbirds.
