Valley of the Dolls
Worth Reading, Dolls Book, Book Worth, Summer Reading, Movie, Favorite Book, Book Covers, Jacqueline Susann, Jacquelinesusann
Jacqueline Susann's sensational story of three pill-popping women (whom she modeled, rumor has it, after Judy Garland, Grace Kelly, and Marilyn Monroe) perfectly crystallized the decadence of the 1960s. Unavailable in paperback for over 15 years, the all-time bestselling work of fiction returns. Michele Lee has been cast to play Susann in a CBS made-for-TV movie in January 1998.
Valley of the Dolls [Book] - I wish the movie would have been more like the book instead of a quick abbreviation.
Valley of the Dolls book cover
When I'm reading any book, I generally flip back at some point and read the very last sentence of the book. I'm morbid and in case I die, I want to have some closure. I did that with this book about a third of the way in. It set up a very specific expectation that I went through the novel with. When I did get to the end, I felt slapped. It was great. It was more than great- it was amazing. This remains one of my favorite books of all time.

Down the Mysterly River / Bill Willingham "Top notch Boy Scout Max "the Wolf" cannot remember how he came to be in a strange forest, but soon he and three talking animals are on the run from the Blue Cutters, hunters who will alter the foursome's very essence if they can catch them."
Down the Mysterly River is the children’s book debut of Bill Willingham, the creator of the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel series Fables. Complete with illustrations by Fables artist Mark Buckingham, it is a spirited, highly original tale of adventure, suspense, and everlasting friendship. Max “the Wolf” is a top notch Boy Scout, an expert at orienteering and a master of being prepared. So it is a little odd that he suddenly finds himself, with no recollection of his immediate past, lost in an unfamiliar wood. Even odder still, he encounters a badger named Banderbrock, a black bear named Walden, and McTavish the Monster (who might also be an old barn cat)—all of whom talk—and who are as clueless as Max. Before long, Max and his friends are on the run from a relentless group of hunters and their deadly hounds. Armed with powerful blue swords and known as the Blue Cutters, these hunters capture and change the very essence of their prey. For what purpose, Max can’t guess. But unless he can solve the mystery of the strange forested world he’s landed in, Max may find himself and his friends changed beyond recognition, lost in a lost world…
