    The Romanov Imperial family

  • Liz Snyder

The royal family was awakened harshly at around 2.00 a.m. in the morning and were whisked to a room to be killed! First, Tsar Nicholas was shot to death in the chest then his son Tsarevich Alexei was shot in the head. The 4 princesses and Tsarina Alexandra were first shot but were unscathed due to jewels sewn into their clothes, which shielded them. They were then rumored to be stabbed to death. Very tragic!

The Romanovs - The Russian Imperial Romanov family and those who chose to accompany them into exile were shot in Yekaterinburg on 17 July 1918. The execution of the Tsar was ordered by the Ural Soviet, and, according to some historians, by Vladimir Lenin and Yakov Sverdlov, to hamper the mustering of White forces in the ongoing Russian Civil War.
