    I can tell in the first 5 minutes of any class, how well that lesson is going to be received. Here are 5 simple way to make sure that those first few minutes engage students.

    This is a chart that I made for my second grade classroom. Every week I select a non-fiction passage to read closely. The chart goes over what to focus on for each read. This file goes nicely with my other Common Core Close Reading files. *This does not include the actual reading passages, just the chart to facilitate your teaching.

    This could be easily adapted to any classroom! You could even add the standard somewhere in there. Neat idea!!

    my favorite addition math stations. This one is called "in and out". The students simply drop a handful of cubes onto the in and out board. They record the number in the circle for the first addend and the cubes outside of the circle as the 2nd addend. Then solve the number sentence. The kids really like it!
