One pinner said shedid this but used squares of outdoor green carpet. If you level your ground first then lay plastic down n use concrete squares n then outdoor carpet squares you get this same look. It's not hard to maintain that way. That way you don't have to move patio furniture n now n then put it back. Ours looks just as good as this.
Love the checkerboard paving - if you were careful about the 'grass' you planted, you wouldn't need to mow (e.g. microlaena, chamomile, thyme, creeping mint, even violas...) I've always loved this idea, but having to continually maintain it put me off. Love the idea of a ground cover that wouldn't need to be mown
I think I can figure out what makes this one secret... The hush that comes over one who is contemplating going through the gate and venturing into the seductive darkness just beyond the shock of light green...That is a secret place for sure... where any number of magical, secretive, breathtaking things may occur! and. . . when you return you must keep the secrets!!!
Bellingham Garden - I love this idea for a garden path - flat stone, mos, other keepsakes....the idea of fixing keepsakes into your home garden pathway is a phenomenal way to leave 'legacy' where you have lived. Incredible opportunity to leave special marbles, heirloom toys, broken china cups, shells from vacation, etc....
