Private Ryan - WWII movie directed by Stephen Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, covers the D-Day landing at Normandy. It's been called the most realistic war movie ever made. Outstanding special effects.
The Lost Boys (1987), Warner Bros. Pictures with Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland and Jami Gertz. I don't know if I would call this horror but it was fun and I loved the concept on the feet of the vampires. Big thumbs up and I continue to catch it every time I see it's on tv.
Trading Places (1983) -- "A snobbish investor and a wily street con artist find their positions reversed as part of a bet by two callous millionaires" -- Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy in a classic 80s movie (plus Jamie Lee Curtis as a hooker with a heart of gold) -- if you have not seen it, do so as soon as possible.
