St. John Lutheran Church Ridge Valley 1943.

St. John Lutheran Church Ridge Valley. The tower was originally slate. There was a fence that surrounded the front of the property, like the current fence around the UCC Church. The Godshall store is visible at the far right. There are very few if any graves visible in St. John's Cemetery in the background, as the main cemetery when this picture was taken was the Union cemetery across the bridge.

Ridge Valley Evangelical and Reformed Church, as the denomination was called when this photo was taken. Notice the cars! Henry Ford once was quoted as saying "A customer can have any color car, as long as it is black". Must have been true.

This is a great series! Notice that each frame is comprised of more than one photo and perspective. The accents of color look great and create abstraction from photography.

Mirrored black and white photographs, with brightly-hued watercolor paint. ---from a 2013 series, titled Miroir, by Paris based artist Fabienne Rivory.

Painting of Ridge Valley PA, by Paul Bortz. My Great Grandparents had a house and ice cream store with this view. "Where the church spires rise to meet the blue of the sky...that's my home." Ulysses Godshall.

St. John's Lutheran Church Ridge Valley. Notice the fence extends all the way to Finland Road. There is no parking lot at St. John's because the horses and carriages were kept in the Union Sheds next to the Reformed Church. The photo was taken from the Godshall store on the corner of Allentown and Finland Roads.

Ridge Valley Reformed United Church of Christ interior from 1947. After World War 2 the interior was updated and the main aisle was changed to the center. The east windows were covered with hymn boards until the early 80's when the woodwork was painted white and the interior lightened up.

The first postcard I ever found at Perkiomen Auction. It was the first time I found out there was a bell tower on the school.

Rocky Dale. The rocks are on the Ridge Valley Creek, south and west of St. John's Cemetery. It was a Sunday afternoon outing place, for many in the region. Only the daring climbed to the top, and I have found a few photos of these groups. One was a cigar company outing. It is hard to tell the true size of the boulders, in this photo. The rocks were dropped from glaciers during the last ice age.
