Peter Franklin Ingalls, Laura's cousin, went to live with Laura and Almanzo on their farm to help with the farm work after the couple contracted diphtheria, leaving Almanzo partially lame. His sisters Alice and Ella, who married the Whiting brothers, are also mentioned in the Little House Books. Peter later traveled down the Mississippi River with Almanzo's brother Perley Day Wilder. Laura Ingalls Wilder....(February 7, 1867 – February 10, 1957) was an American author who wrote the "Little House" series of books based on her childhood in a pioneer family. Laura's daughter, Rose, inspired Laura to write her books. It became "Little House On The Prairie"

Laura, when she and Rose went together to have fancy pictures taken of themselves. :-)

This is the desk where Laura wrote the Little House books. She used pencil and wrote on the equivalent to the Big Chief tablets we used in school.

Laura Ingalls Wilder as a young girl after The Long Winter (which she called The Hard Winter, but the publishers insisted she change the title because they felt nothing should be presented as "hard" to children. Nice to know PC was prevalent even in the 1930s!)
