Medicine is one of 3 paintings (Philosophy, Medicine, Jurisprudence) aka The University of Vienna Ceiling Paintings, or the Faculty Paintings, made for the ceiling of University of Vienna's Great Hall between 1900-07. Commissioned in 1894, Klimt was attacked for pornography & perverted excess in the paintings. None went on display. All 3 were destroyed by fire set by retreating SS forces at Schloss Immendorf, Austria, May 1945

Decorative Art. Serena Pulitzer Lederer (1867-1943) Gustav Klimt ( Austrian, Baumgarten 1862-1918 Vienna). Klimt painted this portrait of the wife of Viennese industrialist August Lederer in 1899, two years after founding the Vienna Secession to reform art in the Austrian capital and raise it to a level of international importance. The painting was shown in the tenth Secession exhibition in 1901.
